You're in a job that you love.

Work-life balance is the holy grail of any successful business. It’s what makes us happy, healthy, and productive at work. It keeps our stress levels low and helps us focus on the things that matter most to us.

There’s an excellent chance that you have no idea how to crush work-life balance. We’re all so busy doing what we think is essential that we don’t stop considering the other things in our lives that make us happy.

But how do you achieve it? How can you ensure that all aspects of your life get enough attention? And most importantly, how do you ensure that no one gets left behind?

In this article, we’ll explore these questions and more as we talk about how to easily crush work-life balance!

If you’re looking for a way to improve your life, here are some steps you can take:

1. Start with a plan

When working on a project, it’s crucial to have a clear idea of where you’re going and what you want to achieve. When it comes to work-life balance, I like to use this simple formula:

Do less work + Enjoy more life = Win/Win situation!

2. Divide your time

If your job is taking up all of your time, then there’s no way you can enjoy any of it. This is why you need to divide your time between work and play. You may not be able to do this at first. Still, over time, it will become easier until it becomes second nature.

We’ve all been there: you’re working on a project, and suddenly you find yourself tapping away at your keyboard like a robot, with no idea how much time has passed. You look up, startled to see that it’s dark outside and you haven’t eaten lunch yet.

If this sounds like something that happens to you often, you need to start dividing your time between work and play. It doesn’t matter how much work there is to be done or how important it is—if you don’t take breaks, then there’s no way for your brain to process everything it needs and stay focused on the task at hand.

The key is dividing your time in a way that feels comfortable for YOU. For example, I like to work for 4 hours and then take a break for 1 hour. This gives me time to enjoy my life outside work without feeling guilty.

I always admired Benjamin Franklin’s way of dividing his time blocking. He would schedule his day into 10-minute increments and would use a different activity for each increment (writing letters, reading books).

3. Your time is your currency

The first step in conquering this challenge is knowing how much each activity takes up in your daily routine. For example, if reading an article takes up 20 minutes of my day, I know that I can fit in 2 pieces every hour. That’s 3 articles per day or 30 articles per week. If you have more time and want to read more than 30 articles, try increasing the number of pieces you read each day or week. If you don’t have enough time and would like to read less than 30 articles, try decreasing the number of pieces you read each day or week.

4. Relax, recharge and reflect

If you love spending time with your family, then schedule some quality family time. If you love going for walks, then schedule some time for yourself.

If you want balance in your life, you must make room for what matters most. This might mean turning off notifications on your phone or limiting how much screen time is allowed per day (and I’m not talking about TV here). It might mean getting outside more and that well-deserved vitamin D or setting aside specific times during the day when you focus solely on family or friends without interruption.

We all have those moments at work when we’re like, “Ugh, I’m so tired.” It’s okay to feel that way sometimes—it’s normal! But if you think this way often, it could be a sign that you’re not taking care of yourself. And that’s the biggest key to work-life balance: taking care of yourself.

5. Make time for exercise

It might seem like there’s no time for exercise during the day, but they always will be! You can even find time to do some quick exercises throughout the day. Stechs those legs and take a well-deserved short walk around the office if you don’t have an opportunity to run or hit the gym. This will help keep your energy levels up and eliminate any stress or anxiety.

6. Coffee break anyone?

Taking breaks is important because it gives your brain a chance to rest and recover from the tasks you’ve been working on. It also allows you to recharge so that when you get back into work mode again, it’s easier for your mind and body to focus on what you need.

Work Life Balance Guide 1

When I think about work-life balance, my first thought is, What a terrible name for a thing! It sounds like something you’d hear from a manager on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

But then I got to thinking—and I’m not sure if it was because of how much time I’ve spent in meetings lately or because of all that stuff about dopamine, but either way, I realized something. Work-life balance isn’t just about ensuring you have enough time for your job and your life: It’s about making sure you have enough time for both to be fun.

And let me tell you something: That’s not easy! If your job is taking up all of your time, there’s no way you can enjoy any of it. This is why you must divide your time between work and play. You may not be able to do this at first. Still, over time, it will become easier until it becomes second nature. Looking for additional advice towards succeeding from working remotely?
